Our professional nursing staff strives to provide the highest level of quality compassionate nursing care in a variety of inpatient, outpatient, adult and pediatric specialities.  This care is planned and supervised by a staff of professional Registered Nurses.  The Licensed Practical Nurses, Patient Unit Assistants, Health Unit Coordinators work under the direction of the Registered Nurses.

At Huron Medical Center, the Department of Nursing and all medical center staff share a common mission, vision and values that unites our commitment to the highest standards of patient care delivery.  Our philosophy reflects the unique contribution of nursing and is based on compassionate care and excellence, and supports a culture of caring and nurturing for one another.

Obstetrics

Huron Medical Center's Obstetrics Unit provides family-centered, individualized care.  We are the only hospital in the tri-county area providing obstetrical services.  Our team of OB/GYN physicians and obstetrical nurses have strong roots in the community.  They delight in seeing the families with whom they have worked in their own neighborhoods.

The professional staff of our Obstetrical Department provides care for women and their babies before, during and after delivery.  Because our labor and delivery team works cooperatively, they understand each other and can quickly put a laboring mother at ease.

Operating Room (Surgery & Anesthesia)

The Operating Room Suites at Huron Medical Center are located on the second floor.  The Unit is comprised of three operating rooms, a recovery room and an ambulatory surgery holding area.  The Operating Room staff provides:

  • skilled personnel who assist in the care necessary for today's modern surgical procedures;
  • a safe environment for patients experiencing invasive procedures to restore optimum health and wellness;
  • assistance to surgeons in meeting the health needs of the patient;
  • quality care with the respect for life, dignity, and patient privacy.

The Anesthesia Staff administers the anesthetic most suitable for your operation.

Recovery Room

After surgery, you will be taken to the Recovery Room where you will receive constant, expert care by the Nursing and Anesthesia staff until you can be returned to your patient room.

Intensive/Coronary Care Unit

This unit is designed, equipped and staffed to care for acutely ill patients.  The ICU/CCU is self-contained and provides advanced, electronic monitoring devices.  Specially trained professional nursing staff provide constant, round-the-clock nursing care.

Emergency Department

Our 13-bed Emergency Department has a Trauma Bay, Observation Room, 7 Treatment Rooms, a Cast Room, and a Decontamination Area.  On-site Physicians specially trained in emergency medicine are available 24/7 to provide emergency and urgent care treatment with the assistance of Registered Nurses and additional licensed staff.

Oncology

Oncology services are available to patients with a referral from any physician.  Self-referral by patients is also accepted.

Oncologists who visit our facility on a weekly basis monitor patient care.  Chemotherapy is administered to inpatients and outpatients by specially trained registered nurses in the medical center.

Wound, Ostomy and Continence (WOC)

The WOC nurse provides care to persons with abdominal stomas, wounds, fistulas, drains, pressure sores and incontinence.  As an educator and consultant, the WOC nurse plays a major role in the guidance of optimum patient care.

With a physician order, patients can be seen in the medical center as an outpatient or in a homecare setting.
