Huron Medical Center offers exceptional patient care, from leading-edge imaging equipment to board-certified radiologists.  Convenient hours are available for services.

The following imaging services are available:

• Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) - is offered through a consortium of hospitals in the Thumb area and located at the Thumb MRI Center on M-53 just south of M-81 intersection.
• CAT Scan (also known as CT Scan) - The C.T. Scan takes a series of images that can detect conditions that are not found on conventional x-rays.  With our new state-of-the-art 32-slice CT Scanner, testing can be performed within a few minutes, unlike conventional scanners that can take up to 45 minutes to an hour to complete the same scan.
• Radiology (General Diagnostic X-ray) - X-Ray examinations, ordered by your physician, is a basic part of the workup in diagnosis of most medical illness or injuries. Our Radiology Department is under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Radiologist. Your examination will be performed by registered technologists and interpreted by the Radiologist who notifies your physician of the results.
• Bone Densitometry - is an enhanced form of x-ray technology that is used to measure bone loss.
• Mammogram - Our Mammography Unit has been approved by the American College of Radiology and the Michigan Department of Public Health. Our technologists are specially trained and registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Technology has given us the latest high-tech tools to provide full-field digital mammography with a new breast cushion that dramatically eases the discomfort many women feel when they get a mammogram.
• Nuclear Medicine - Nuclear Medicine involves the introduction of a source of radiation into the body, which moves throughout the bloodstream and organ systems. Diagnostic information is then recorded with a highly sensitive radiation-detecting device. Your examination will be performed by registered technologists and interpreted by the Radiologist who shares the results of your tests with your physician.
• Ultrasound - The Ultrasound equipment records the images of body organs without the use of radiation. High frequency sound waves produce the image, allowing the physician to "see" the inside of an organ without the use of surgery or needles.   Doppler Ultrasound examines the flow of blood through the body to detect decreases, which can cause problems in bodily function. This is especially useful in the neck area to detect blood flow to the brain.
• Digital Imaging System (PACs)- fully integrates all hospital imaging information for radiology and cardiology.  This system gives our physicians the opportunity to view their patient's images on any computer that has Internet access.  With a user ID and password, the physician can pull the images up in the office during the patient's visit or at his/her home if necessary.
