Laboratory

Huron Medical Center has a full service laboratory providing 24-hour coverage 365 days a year.  The department provides a wide range of tests that your physician relies upon to provide your care.  The department works with your physician and the hospital staff, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

Our Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and is under the direction of a Board Certified Pathologist.  The Pathologist, and the trained technologists, technicians and phlebotomists under his supervision, obtain specimens and perform the many laboratory tests your physician may order for you.  Some of these services include:  
  • Routine tests of blood and bodily fluids
  • Urine drug screen collections – Department of Transportation and Non-Department of Transportation
  • Culture and sensitivity tests of infections
  • Autologous Donor Program

Outpatient Lab Services

  • 6:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Saturday

Pathology/Histology Department

The Board Certified Pathologist is also the Director of the Pathology/Histology Department.  All surgical specimens and body fluids are sent to the Histology Lab and are prepared by our histo-technicians for examination.  Your doctor is then informed of the results and can determine your treatment and prognosis, based on recommendations of the Pathologist.

American Red Cross Blood Bank

Huron Medical Center has a full service blood bank supplied by the American Red Cross.
